Why did you chose the name Qango?

Contrary to what some people think, Qango isn't an acronym for overseas government bodies (that one has a u in it!).

When I first looked at creating a website directory my initial feeling was that the name needed to be as short as possible. I wanted something that was easy to remember, a single word.

I checked the availability of over 300 domain names and made up a shortlist of around 80 or so. I showed the list to family and friends and asked them which ones they thought would be easy to remember. Over the following weeks the list got whittled down, each time checking again with my family and friends which ones they thought were the best.

Eventually, after narrowing it down to a final three, I took an executive decision and settled on Qango. Coincidentally, when it came to writing this page I was sure I still had the list, but alas it's gone from my PC so I can't tell you what the other final two were!
